Today I am reflecting on what is required to complete Assignment 2. I have created an outline of how my Social Network Proposal is to be set out and what questions I need to answer in this proposal. This gives me some direction and I fell less anxious knowing I have a template. I am also trying to find a balance with learning how to use social media tools such as Facebook (FB), Twitter and delicious and keeping up with postings. It is hard to not get sidetracked and with all the content, personal as opposed to study related. It is difficult to keep focus on INF206 related content. I wonder if other students have opened separate accounts for the purpose of this subject. I may ask them via FB and see what the general consensus is. Something interested posted recently by Jake Wallis was how 'change of ownership' of a social media site could mean a loss of service or change to the services provided and possibly a change to the function of services provided. The example given by Wallis was the Delicious website which after undergoing a change of ownership made some changes to the sites functionality. Wallis discovered that now when he tag sisocialmedia to his bookmarked resources the resources were then are all pushed into the sisocialmedia account. add ref.

Assignment 1: OLJ creation and first entry
What is Social Networking?
Social Networking is a means to connect with others via the internet. A forum connecting a user to friends, family, work colleagues, as well as like minded people or special interest groups, e.g.book lovers, gamers, sporting groups, to name a few. Certain networking sites such as Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter will suggest connections to hobbies, friends or groups that may be of interest to users, based on their own user history.
Social networking sites that I use:
Twitter - for study
Blogger - for study
Second Life - for study
YouTube - for personal
Facebook - for personal, work and study
Wiki - for work
Flickr - for personal
Delicious - for personal
Pinterest - for personal
What I expect to learn from INF206:
I hope to gain confidence in using Web 2.0 technologies. To have a greater understanding of the use of social networking sites and how they can be used within a library environment. As well an understanding of the social etiquette and boundaries of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
